November18-20. Is there some last minute holiday shopping that needs to be done? Haven’t started yet! The Candlelite Inn is here to help. On Friday evening, unwind from a hectic week with warm cider and holiday sweets as you look over the area menus. After a scrumptious breakfast with dessert on Saturday  morning, it’s off you go, for a day of “tax free” shopping. We’ll provide a voucher for a free Tanger Outlet-Tilton coupon book—worth over $350 of savings. Then back to the Inn and all you will need to wrap your gifts will be waiting. There will be light hors d’oeuvres while wrapping your gifts and a light dinner will be served. Holiday cookies and hot chocolate throughout the weekend. 2 nights are required with this package. Dates don’t work? We can be flexible. Just let us know. $40 over room rate.

The Fells Holiday House Tour & Inn to Inn Progressive Tea: December 9th-11th. Tickets to tour 6 homes in the Lake Sunapee Region. Progressive tea at 3 lovely New Hampshire Inns.

January White: For the month of January. Have those gift cards and money envelopes available. Remember New Hampshire is "tax free" for shopping.

New Year's Eve at the Candlelite Inn: December 30th-January 1. Start the new year right by sweeping the "love of your life" off their feet with a romantic getaway here at the Candlelite Inn. We have an affordable package in the works.

Inn to Inn Snow Shoe Adventure: January 13th-15th, February 3rd-5th & March 9th-11th. Guided snow trek from the Rosewood Country Inn to the Candlelite Inn, dinner, lunch--an enjoyable weekend.

Candlelite Inn: Autumn Harvest Getaway & Progressive Dinner

The fall is, without doubt, one of the most popular seasons in New England. To end this season the Candlelite Inn with 2 other Inns in the Lake Sunapee Region is offering this autumn getaway with a progressive dinner.

The package includes 2 nights lodging with a hearty breakfast each morning, Friday evening hors d'oeuvres and a 3 course progressive dinner. Your first course with be at the Henniker House , main course at the Rosewood Country Inn and dessert here at the Candlelite Inn. Guests may also opt for a hay ride on Saturday afternoon which is an additional cost. The date is this weekend, October 28-30. Sample menu on Candlelite Inn's website.

While you are here in New Hampshire, guests can avail themselves of a wide variety of activities from picturesque walks or hikes along country lanes to shopping at nearby Tanger Outlets. Candlelite Inn: Columbus Day Weekend

Hi Everyone and Happy Columbus Day Weekend. The weather is going to be beautiful--great for a little get away. Lots going on here at the Candlelite Inn and in the Lake Sunapee Region.This weekend is Warner's Fall Foliage Festival and then hop over to Mt Sunapee Resort for their 3rd Annual Fall Festival Pig Roast & BBQ.Over at MT Sunapee there will be hay rides, face painting, food, summit skyrides and much more.Warner is featuring music, crafts, arts and of course, food. Here at the Candlelite, I'll have warm cider and Applesauce CranRaisin Spice cookies waiting for my guests return. Enjoy this weekend and don't forget to take that walk or ride and check out the fall foliage. Each year is different.

Candlelite Inn: Fall Preview

Autumn is here. The leaves are changing; pumpkins have appeared on farm stands and on doorstops--cornstalks, scarecrows and chilly mornings are all apart of the fall season. Here at the Candlelite Inn, I have put together some interesting packages for the fall and early winter. Our Inn to Inn packages have continued with the Rosewood Country Inn and coming this October is our New Hampshire Fall Foliage Sampler which is available Oct 3-7, Oct 10-14 & October 17-21.  Another October event is our Autumn Harvest in New Hampshire with Progressive Dinner on October 28-30. With this package you will visit 3 Victorian Inns with hors d'oeuvres at the Henniker House in Henniker, the Rosewood Country Inn for your main course and the Candlelite Inn for dessert both in Bradford.

Some upcoming packages is our popular Holiday Shoppers Weekend Nov 18-20.Also coming up in December is a Progressive Holiday Tea and a house tour with The Fells on Dec 9-11.

Candlelite Inn: At Summer's End

I can't believe that summer has come to an end and fall is around the corner. Labor Day has come and gone. The kids are back in school. I am starting to see cornstalks and pumpkins at farm stands and soon houses will be decorated for autumn. Go out and take a walk--no matter what time of the day. Walking around Bradford, with its history is enjoyable, There is the covered bridge, down the street from the Candlelite Inn, the tall pines mini hike, the mill and great folks to wave at. I always say "staying at the Candlelite Inn your downtown" Just the other day as I took my daily walk, I saw movement to my right and there were a flock of wild turkeys and so close. The trees are beginning to turn and soon Mother Nature will put on her spectacular show of colors.

The Candlelite Inn is putting Fall Foliage packages together and I'll point you in the right direction to see some great color. Some of our Inn to Inn packages this fall will be a Harvest Progressive Dinner, Hiking packages, a progressive Christmas tea and house tour and some great ideas for Christmas gifts that are very inexpensive to make and very elegant to give. I'll have more on those this week with dates.

League of NH Craftsmen's Fair

The League of NH Craftsmen's Fair is going into its 78th year. One of the oldest juried crafts fair in the country. Over 200 booths featuring a wide variety of fine craft by juried craftsmen. There will be craft exhibitions, demos, workshops, tours, seminars and musical performances. The date August 6-14 and held at Mt Sunapee Resort, Newbury, NH from 10am to 5pm daily. It's not to early to think about your summer vacation. The Candlelite Inn & The Rosewood Country Inn have planned 2 exciting Inn to Inn packages. Enjoy the Lake Sunapee Region with our covered bridges, historic homes, hiking trails and there is so much more. We've planned everything for you. All you need to do is enjoy, relax and bring home your memories.

 Inn to Inn Summer Heritage Tour. Available June 29-July 3 & August 10-14. Its 2 days of biking, two days NH discovery. On this glorious journey, you’ll be surrounded by quintessential New Hampshire scenery as you cycle for 2 days past charming villages and bucolic meadows and farmlands. You’ll visit local shops and galleries, past old colonial homes, waterfalls and stone arch bridges. On your second day, you’ll pedal over to the Fells, Newbury Harbor and the State Park for a refreshing swim. The next 2 days you’ll enjoy a visit to the Kearsarge Indian Museum, hike Mt Kearsarge and explore the local artisan shops. On the July tour, you will enjoy an old time 4^th of July fair, evening BBQ at the Inn, parade and the grand finale—spectacular fireworks. Come in after for a dessert buffet. The August tour will include admission to the League of NH Craftsmen’s Fair. This packaged is priced at $429 pp/do, plus tax.

Package includes 2 nights each at the Candlelite Inn & Rosewood Country Inn, 4 breakfasts, 2 dinners, a picnic supper, admission to Fuller Gardens, St Gaudens & the Fells and tickets for the Lake Sunapee Cruise. The Candlelite Inn would like to wish everyone a Happy Easter and a great springtime.

Candlelite Inn: Strawberries with Brown Sugar and Balsamic Vinegar

With Easter around the corner, it's time to think of spring menus. This recipe is so fast and easy--not to mention that it taste so good.Try it on custard pies, pound cake or serve it plain with a dollop of sour cream sweetened with a little sugar and add a little lemon or orange zest. Lemons are another thing I associate Spring with.

4 cups of halved or quartered strawberries
 2 to 3 tsp balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar

 Place strawberries in a bowl, and sprinkle with balsamic vinegar, brown sugar and pepper. Toss, then let stand 15-20 minutes.

Mother Nature is still playing her April Fool's on us. This is not spring weather. We had some snow this morning, but has turned into rain. I do hope that this rain will bring May flowers. But I am not going to let this get me down. So, for the month of April, the Candlelite Inn is putting on a special for all those who would like to get away and beat those winter doldrums.

Stay for 2 nights and get the 2nd night at half price or stay for 3 nights and get your 3rd night free.

Candlelite Inn: Spring is Here

Spring is here or is it. The first full day and here in Bradford and throughout New Hampshire we had snow. Waking up this morning, was really pretty. But enough is enough. I was talking with my Mom down in NJ and she was telling me that the daffodils are in bloom; the crocus is out. My daughter was saying that it was 50 degree there and after work she was going for a walk with her dog. Well maybe this will be the last of the snow--I hope. I am ready for Spring and those bright and sunny days. Let's see what the second day of spring brings. Warmth I hope.

Candlelite Inn: The sweetness is in the air

Ah, the sweet smell of sweetness is in the air. It's Maple Sugaring time. This weekend is Maple Sugar Weekend in New Hampshire. Visit the sugar houses and see how maple syrup and other maple products are produced. How they gather the sap, the boiling down process, right up to putting that gold into containers. At each sugar house, there will be food sampling. Here at the Candlelite Inn, we will be hosting a progressive dinner with 2 other local inns--The Rosewood Country Inn and the Henniker House. Our breakfast each morning will have that maple theme with goodies throughout the day also with maple. Rooms are still available. Call for more information.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and what a beautiful way to say "I Love You" than a weekend getaway at the Candlelite Inn. Sleigh ride, chocolate, Valentine sweets--oh my! We're celebrating all month long.

Currier & Ives Maple Sugar Weekend & Progressive Dinner. March 18-20. January 28^th – 30^th. Winter in New Hampshire is so peaceful, so quiet. As the snowflakes drifts from the sky, cozy up by the fire for our Stew & Story weekend. Your weekend starts on Friday evening with light hors d’oeuvres as you look over the area menus.
